How to get to the EPM Medellín Water Museum: Prices, schedules, and nearby metro stations

The EPM Water Museum in Medellín is an educational space made up of 9 interactive rooms where you can learn everything about the origin and care of water. It is located in the center of Medellín next to Barefoot Park and in front of the EPM intelligence building.

The water museum is a thematic and interactive space that is made up of 3 floors with enough information for them to evaluate how they are taking advantage of and caring for water, a very precious natural resource. When they enter they will take a tour accompanied by a guide who for approximately one hour he will show them a multitude of dynamic and interactive exhibitions. An important fact is that the tours are also conducted in English, ideal for foreigners.

How to get to the Water Museum?

The Water Museum is in the direction of Carrera 57 No. 42-139. To get to the water museum in Medellín you must take Avenida San Juan to Carrera 58 and turn towards Calle 42. The museum is in front of the EPM building

How to get to the water museum by metro

To get to the EPM Water Museum by metro, you must get off at the Alpujarra station where you must cross the Antioquia government building once you leave the station. Then they will find Barefoot Park and at the bottom of it is the entrance to the museum; on the right side, you will see the park's food court. Its location is in the center of Medellín and front of the EPM Intelligent Building. They can also arrive from the Plaza Mayor station using the Metroplús routes.

What is an interactive museum?

Museums are non-profit cultural institutions open to the public. They become interactive when they encourage their visitors to participate, manipulate the exhibits and play freely with them. The exhibits are also made up of educational objects but not collectibles.

History

According to its historical review, it was inaugurated in the year 2000 under the name EPM Interactive Museum for citizens to learn about the advances in science and technology that EPM implements in the city of Medellín. Then in 2005, the Museum took on yet another approach to environmental protection with a first renovation.

Why was it called a water museum

It was in 2012 that it ceased to be called the EPM Interactive Museum to become as we know it today, the EPM Water Museum, with a more specific focus on water as sustainable development.

Travel time

Once they enter, the guides take them on a tour of the entire museum. The entire tour is scheduled to take an hour and a half.

Schedule

The EPM Water Museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., which is when the last admission or tour is made. Then the museum closes its doors at 5:30 pm. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the entry hours are from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, which is when the last entry is made and closes at 6:30 pm.

The entrance fee to the museum a cost of 6,000 Colombian pesos.

  • Those who live in Medellín in strata 1, 2, and 3 presenting a Medellín public utility bill.
  • Sisbén affiliates.
  • Children under 5 years old.
  • People over 60 years of age.

  • EPM employees enter 2×1.
